Two-Ingredient Wonton Soup

For the night you don’t feel like cooking, here’s a two-ingredient dinner full of flavour with minimal effort. Traditionally preparing homemade wonton soup is very easy, fast and cheap. In no time, you will have ready some wontons with a juicy filling full of flavour!

Wontons are high in Vitamin B6. A study found that people with a sufficient level of Vitamin B6 have better memory as they get older compared to people with less Vitamin B6. Furthermore, the protein content present in this soup will help to optimize brain cells and improve the ability to think properly. Plus, you can find a variety of frozen wontons with so many types of meats and veggies. We personally love pork wontons.

Wontons also enhance muscle mass, promote cognitive functions, enhances metabolism, keeps one satisfied, and can also help prevent cancer due to the Vitamin B6 content in this soup.

How to Make TWO-INGREDIENT WONTON SOUP.

To make this super easy two-ingredient wonton soup, I start by making my simple broth with a wonton soup base and water according to package directions. I add some vegetables or an egg on days I feel like going pretty extra.

Today, I added some shredded carrots. But you can also add some spinach, mushroom, wakame and more if you’ve got any, as they are also excellent for this recipe.

Once it starts to simmer, I add in my frozen wontons of choice and cook until they start to float – this should take about eight to ten minutes.

Lastly, I finish with hot chili oil and scallions.

TWO-INGREDIENT WONTON SOUP Recipe tips & tricks

  • Do not overcook wontons. You want to ensure that you do not overcook your wontons. Once they start to float on your soup, you want to quickly turn off the heat, cover the pot, and allow the soup to simmer for about two minutes.

  • For a more forceful soup. If you want your soup to be even more filling, add chicken pieces or rice noodles. You will only have to cook them for 5 minutes or so and they will be ready.
